The beach is mostly crowded in the evenings, though it is the most crammed full during the festivities. The Girgaum Chowpatty holds a significant value for the immersion of the Lord Ganesha during the 10th day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. A number of branded stores, posh eateries and malls surround the coastline along the beach which is a window to the horizon between the sky-line of the city.
